THE ARTIZAN RANGE
The new age of Kilncare front-loading kilns is here.

The old KC55 front-loading range had served so many of you well for many years, but as with all things over time, they must evolve.
A number of new features really take this range to the next level for reliability, durability and ease of use and it is brilliant to now have it available for you.
Kilns in our ARTIZAN range are made here in Stoke on Trent using traditional, time tested methods and techniques.
The kilns are made using the highest quality bricks and backing boards as efficiency is becoming more of an issue these days.
From top quality insulation, to top quality elements, to a controller that enables highly complex firings and the optional extra of Wi-Fi capability, this really is a seriously effective range of kilns.
For front-loading kilns with trolley floors, see KC-T55 range.

For ARTIZANS 90 TO 200

The KCR32C is multi-program controller designed for glass, ceramics & pottery use. It is targeted towards glass use with 32 programs each of up to 32 segments. Each segment is a controlled heating/cooling ramp followed by a soak. It is supplied pre-programmed with 9 typical glass programs and 9 typical ceramics programs (which can be over-written).
The slow rate capability of the KCR32C, down to 1c per hour, makes it the perfect controller for complicated glass cycles.

KCR32C WIFI Controller (optional)

The KCR32C WIFi is internally the same as the KCR32C but has the capability to be accessed
and controlled remotely from your mobile device.
This is one of the most important advances in Kilncare kilns for many years.
Using Kilncares GATEway access site you can view how your kiln is running in real time. Stop the
firing or adjust programs all without even being in the same country let alone the same room.
The KCR32 WIFI is also fitted with a USB port that allows programs to be entered that way direct from PC if required and also allows us to apply updates and run diagnostics without travelling to your kiln.
Internet access to view real time status and access data

The optional KCR32C WIFI allows the user to access the kiln in real time from anywhere with internet access via the Kilncare GATEway on our website. The benefits of this are obvious as there is no longer the need to travel to the studio or work place to see how the firing is proceeding or if indeed the firing is going as planned.
Also in the GATEway, which is unique to each user via password access, there is a firings library where past firings can be stored and named, a notes section and a log amongst other features.

For ARTIZAN 265

The KCR32Z WIFI is a multi-zone controller designed for use on our larger kilns where total evenness of chamber temperature is much more difficult to maintain through simple kiln design alone. The controller monitors one section of the kiln and adjusts the other sections to maintain perfect chamber uniformity with regards to temperature.

The KCR32Z WIFI can set as low as 0.1c per hour.

The rest of the KCR32Z WIFI is as the KCR32C WIFI.
KCR32Z WIFI Controller features

-

Kanthal A1 elements
The ARTIZAN range, along with the vast majority of Kilncare kilns, utilises Kanthal A1 elements (which are widely regarded as the best quality elements available), ensuring unbeatable reliability and durability.
Highly reliable three section seal
This massively improves heat retention.
The first section of the door seal is a machined insert in the brick lid that puts a brake on the heat before it reaches the second section, a traditional brick on brick contact.
The third step is maintained by non-ceramic fibre that is set into a channel around the front face, which ensures it stays in place, unlike other methods of "Stick on" fibre seals which often tend to fall off.
Robust front face
The Front Face itself is made from "Hard" insulation bricks to reduce the damage caused by knocks and bumps during loading.
All of the kiln doors in the ARTIZAN range are made of the same high grade insulation bricks as the chamber sides.

Permanent Seal Door Clamps

The actual sealing of the door is automatically adjusted every time the door is closed with the variable door clamps.
Lockable Door Vent Hole

The door vent hole has a lockable insulated stainless steel flap that provides a secure seal to the vent hole, erasing the need for a vent bung.
This availability to lock feature is a favourite of education establishments.

Stainless Steel Central Strip

Running up the centre of the kiln door, from just below the vent hole to the top of the door is a 100% 304 brushed stainless steel strip. Those of you who have owned and used a front-loading kiln for a number of years may have noticed a strip of heat and moisture damage appearing above your front vent hole, which could eventually lead to the compromised integrity of the metal in that location. This stainless steel strip combats this issue as it stays much more resilient in the face of the harsh elements.

Stainless Steel Louvred Top Plate
100% 304 brushed stainless steel is again used for the top plate of each ARTIZAN with long term durability in mind. Due to the heat that the top plate will be facing when the kiln is hitting those high temperatures, warping can be an issue. To prevent this, the top plate is louvred to provide extra stability.
Lowered Front Electrical Panel
Keeping the electrics a good distance away from the heat is paramount when striving for keeping electrical faults at a minimum in the long term. With this in mind, the front panel has been lowered from the bottom of the firing chamber in order to allow an air gap between the chamber and the panel, allowing for an even cooler electrical operation.
Stainless Steel Strip Covering Element Exits
For the same purpose as the door's stainless steel strip, all ARTIZANs will also have 100% 304 brushed stainless steel strips running the length of the element tail exits in the back of the kiln. There have been a number of instances where our engineers have had to resolve issues where these sections on older kilns have become critically compromised, and the placement of these strips are aimed to look after your kiln in the long term and prevent this from happening.
Over-fire and door switch safety
Each ARTIZAN has a door safety cut off switch along with a contactor door cut off circuit, which also acts as an over fire protection circuit. As well as this, there is also an extra control contactor, which in combination with the over fire contactor and door safety switch makes the kiln extremely safe.
Stainless Steel Protective Shelf
A huge killer of electrical components is dust, and the inside of a kiln's electrical panel can gather very large amounts of dust over years of use. Quite a bit of this can be from dust leaking from the element tail exists, therefore each ARTIZAN has a stainless steel protective shelf fixed below the element tail exits and above the rear electrical panel, protecting the electrics below.
Multi Zone Control and WiFi For The ARTIZAN 265
The ST535WIFI is a multi-zone controller designed for use on our larger kilns where total evenness of chamber temperature is much more difficult to maintain through simple kiln design alone. The controller monitors one section of the kiln and adjusts the other sections to maintain perfect chamber uniformity with regards to temperature. Along with this, the ARTIZAN 265 will have two thermocouples inside the firing chamber, rather than just one.

Manually operated roof vents or optional automatic vents

The roof vent is operated by a manual stainless steel damper, automatic dampers are optional, and can be fitted to all ARTIZAN kilns.

This allows the roof vents to be opened and closed multiple times throughout the duration of the firing at the temperatures required.
The opening and closing cycle is programmed into the controller which enables the user to start the kiln then not have to return to it for any action other than monitoring until the cycle is finished. Extremely useful on larger models where firings can last for much longer.
Optional Wi-Fi Capability (Standard For The ARTIZAN 265)

The KCR32C WIFI allows the user to access the kiln in real time from anywhere with internet access via the Kilncare GATEway on our website.
